Some movies have endured the test of time by remaining popular, then are those that started off with a bang and today remain among the most beloved in the history of cinema.
Casablanca has withstood the test of time and after seventy years, is still considered one of the best motion pictures ever made. Warner Brothers recently released a beautiful boxed set on Blu-ray as a tribute for the film's 70th anniversary. Although the set has already been released, for this column I have searched a variety of sources for materials that were hopefully not included as images or information within the new set. I am happy to say they have all arrived. I feel sure you will feel the wait was worth it as we present a very special Silver Screen column,
Casablanca. While so much has been written about Casablanca including dozens of extras on the various video releases, the books, the internet stories and magazine articles, I have tried to locate material on the film that is amusing but may not have been written or used in many features or articles. It is not easy to find rare material for a film that is so often written about, but hopefully you will enjoy the combination of material provided here.by robert siegel
